Bruce Hill
Bruce joined the Round Lake Area Schools Education Foundation in 2024 and currently serves as the Committee Chair for the annual Santa Workshop Holiday Party.
A lifelong member of the Round Lake community, Bruce attended Beach Elementary School, Magee Middle School, and Round Lake High School, graduating with the Class of 2002. His commitment to community service began early, inspired by a proud family tradition with the Greater Round Lake Fire Protection District (GRLFPD). In 2003, Bruce joined the department himself, following in the footsteps of his father, who has served as Chief Engineer since 1989, and both grandfathers, who were members for over a decade. His grandmother also served the department as a dispatcher for 29 years, living for many of those years in an apartment within the fire station.
Bruce’s passion for fire prevention, life safety, and public education has guided his career. He holds certifications from the Illinois State Fire Marshal, the National Fire Protection Association, and the International Code Council as a Fire Inspector. He is also an active member of the Northern Illinois Fire Inspectors Association and serves on the Division 4 & 5 Fire Investigator SRT Team, providing fire investigation assistance to departments across Lake and McHenry Counties.
In January 2025, Bruce became the K9 handler for Burny, the GRLFPD’s therapy dog—a chocolate Labrador who rarely leaves his side. Together, Bruce and Burny continue to bring comfort, safety awareness, and community connection to the people of the Round Lake area.
